2006-07-13 Summer

Yes, summer has been here for a while, but I haven't had time to enjoy it. I'm currently up to my neck in work, the only chance for me to see sunlight would be if the days had more hours or the weeks had more days. If you're wondering about the progress I will (when time allows) finish up some remaining issues I have and release a new version. I guess that it won't be very useful until version 0.3 is released.

2006-05-04 Work, work, work

Things are moving along, lots of changes (bug fixes and new features) have been made since the first peek-release. I'm still working on build.sh and make configuration. I've also added support for saving build output to a file (options are none, errors and all). I've removed the template window because it isn't used for anything useful at the moment, the script is still part of the distribution for evaluation. Stay tuned for the 0.2 release.

2006-04-27 Last minute changes introduced a bug

I made some last minute changes before the first release that breaks building of kernels. I will upload a new version today with some additional fixes. I will probably skip last minute changes in the future and make sure things work as it should (lesson learned). Sorry...

2006-04-22 I'm changing the name of this project

"NetBSD Kernel and System Builder" was used early on to reflect the purpose of the application. If you look at "Linux®", there are companies that uses this word as a part of their product name, for example "SUSE Linux". In order to include the word "Linux", they have to acquire a license to use the trademark from the Linux Mark Institute. I looked for similar information regarding the NetBSD trademark and I found this announcement from 2004, saying that an official policy for using the trademark was being drafted. I haven't found the actual policy yet.

2006-04-05 Reading up on make(1) and build.sh variables

Most of the work is done for the initial pre-alpha release of netKSB. I'm about to complete the configuration of the build environment and the execution of the build script. It's a rather complex task if you ask a not-yet-very-techie guy like me...
